The hosting companies you reference are generally known as shared hosts. You and 100-1000 people will be stored on a server and pay a low rate. The number of visitors to your site will determine whether shared hosting is a viable method. If you have 20 people per month it wont matter which hosting company you use most likely. Reliability will be based partly upon the type of service you select. Shared hosting v VSP v dedicated service. Also certain hosting companies have specific packages for the programming language of your site. For instance their are hosting companies with WordPress or other programs. If you have a WordPress site then some hosting companies may be more reliable as well.

Reliability is huge. Last night BlueHost a major web hositing company network was down. We are not talking about one of the domains I own. The official website was donwn for over 6 hours. You can protect yourself but you will need to pay more dollars for that reliability. You can have a dedicated server and pay a couple hundred dollars a month so it’s just your site but that doesn’t mean your site wont go down. Even huge companies like Amazon have bugs and sites going down.If you have a site it will go down. The frequency of downtime is the important reliability issue. Bad weather or a fire where the server is located could effect you. Having your site on the cloud is usually more reliable to avoide wetaher and location issues. Do your research. Everyone tries to sell 99.99% uptime.
