Brien and Lori welcome Steve O’Dell, the co-founder of Tenzo Tea. As a former athlete Steve and his other business partner, Robbie Page, discovered an all-natural energy source in the Camellia Sinensis, more commonly known as the “Green Tea Plant.”

Tenzo’s Matcha Green Tea provides the perfect boost of energy with just the right amount of caffeine. The green tea leaf naturally contains caffeine, but most of the good stuff is lost when you steep green tea in a bag.

We started the company in Long Beach and there was a local coffee shop very close to our office, O’Dell said. We decided to ask if they would sell our product, and they said, No! But we went back the next day and asked again, and the same response, no. We went back to that coffee shop everyday for about 6 months right when they opened their doors at 5:30 a.m. asking to sell our product in the store. Eventually the owner gave us a chance and we were able to get our first wholesale account and in two months of networking with the community and interacting with customers we were able to get our product in their second location and from there it has been a snowball of success.

“Getting that first account took so long, a lot of grit and a lot of ‘No’s’,” O’Dell said.
